Basketball Recap: Paje Van Tassell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dietrich over Butte County

If Dietrich was feeling good fresh off their 62-40 takedown of Glenns Ferry two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dietrich Blue Devils came up short against the Butte County Pirates on Saturday, falling 53-28. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Blue Devils struggled afterwards.

Dietrich lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Paje Van Tassell, who posted ten points. Van Tassell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Butte County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cambree Lyon out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Lyon a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Pancheri, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

With the loss, Dietrich broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Butte County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dietrich will take on Carey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Butte County, they will welcome Rockland at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th.
