Football Game Preview: Crestwood Red Devils vs. Kirtland Hornets

The Crestwood Red Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Kirtland Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Crestwood is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since September 27, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 36-8 defeat at the hands of Berkshire. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Badgers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Kirtland strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Chagrin Falls 45-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hornets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Tigers are ranked 532nd).

Crestwood better keep an eye on John Silvestro. He was instrumental in Kirtland's win, rushing for 105 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Silvestro's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Ty Bledsoe was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Kirtland's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Crestwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Crestwood was taken down by Kirtland 37-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Silvestro, who rushed for 207 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. Now that the Red Devils know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
