Baseball Preview: Golden Sierra Grizzlies vs. Foresthill Wildfires

The Golden Sierra Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Foresthill Wildfires at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Golden Sierra's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last nine matches.

Tony Alvarez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. Alvarez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jacob Rodenbaugh and Logan Borovich stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rodenbaugh got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double, while Borovich went 3-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.

Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Foresthill gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They blew past Western Sierra Collegiate Academy 19-9.

Foresthill let Bryce Dowling and Cooper Stanowicz loose on the outfield. Dowling scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Stanowicz scored three runs while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Stewart Poroshin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Golden Sierra's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Foresthill, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season.
