Basketball Game Preview: Land O' Lakes Gators vs. Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers

The Land O' Lakes Gators will take on the Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Land O' Lakes and 12 for Angeline Academy of Innovation.

Land O' Lakes is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against River Ridge on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Land O' Lakes was beaten by River Ridge 54-26. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Royal Knights are ranked 144th).

Despite the loss, Land O' Lakes saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jessi Saffold almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. Saffold is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-4, which was the final score in Angeline Academy of Innovation's tilt against Zephyrhills on Thursday.

Land O' Lakes will need focus on slowing down Kaylie Charles, one of several Angeline Academy of Innovation players who made an impact when they last played. She posted four points.

Land O' Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Angeline Academy of Innovation, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
