Basketball Recap: Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

If Valley was riding high fresh off their 77-27 takedown of Moore last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Valley Vikings fell to the Whitefield Academy Wildcats 49-44. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 33-26 back in February.

Whitefield Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madelin Turner, who posted two points along with ten rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Turner a new career-high. Mia Braffet was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

With the defeat, Valley broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 27-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Whitefield Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.

Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whitefield Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 51-27 loss against Mercy on the 8th.
