Preview: Haralson County Rebels vs. Rockmart Yellowjackets
Haralson County is 0-6 against Rockmart since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Haralson County has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Rockmart will arrive with eight straight victories.
On Saturday, Haralson County had to suffer through a rough 62-34 loss at the hands of Cedartown. Haralson County has not had much luck with Cedartown recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, even though Chattooga scored an imposing 66 points on Saturday, Rockmart still came out on top. Rockmart took their game against Chattooga 78-66. Given Rockmart's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Chattooga is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockmart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Treylin Davis, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was Davis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Hunter Atkins was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Haralson County has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Rockmart, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Haralson County and Rockmart were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February, but Haralson County came up empty-handed after a 60-59 loss. Can Haralson County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
