Cairo scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets, falling 78-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Syrupmakers have suffered against the Yellow Jackets since February 2, 2021.

Despite the loss, Cairo still got an impressive performance from Jy'Kortnee Brown, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 28 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Davion Tarver, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Brown wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Cairo was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Thomas County Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colby Mullinax, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. What's more, Mullinax also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Quincy Anderson, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Cairo's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Thomas County Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
