Basketball Recap: First Presbyterian Day Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

First Presbyterian Day had lost eight straight headed into Monday's game, but Jones Handberry didn't let it get to nine. The First Presbyterian Day Vikings blew past the Piedmont Academy Cougars 69-47 on Monday thanks in part to Handberry, who went 11 of 17 on his way to 33 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those 33 points gave him a new career-high.

First Presbyterian Day's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-14. As for Piedmont Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

First Presbyterian Day has already played their next contest (against Stratford Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Piedmont Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount de Sales Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
