The Seymour Indians will face off against the Beardstown Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Seymour is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Camp Point Central with a sharp 15-2 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Raulin Zehnle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. He has become a key player for Seymour: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Seymour let Hunter Miller and Blake Schwartz run wild. Miller went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Schwartz got on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Haden, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Beardstown hadn't done well against Quincy Notre Dame recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Raiders. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Beardstown also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Tannar Riddell gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Heller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Trey Riddell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Beardstown has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Seymour skirted past Beardstown 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
