Football Recap: Lower Cape May Takes a Loss

After soaring to 35 points the game before, Lower Cape May was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against the Gloucester City Lions, falling 28-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 21-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Gloucester City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylan Coffigny out in front who rushed for 50 yards and one score. What's more, Coffigny racked up 29 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Gloucester City also got a significant boost from Ibrahim Hudwell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 132 yards.

Lower Cape May's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gloucester City, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Lower Cape May and Gloucester City will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers will challenge rival Middle Township at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gloucester City is set to square off against their familiar foe Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
