Paramount is a perfect 10-0 against Dominguez since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Paramount Pirates will welcome the Dominguez Dons at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Paramount is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over Mary Star of the Sea on Tuesday. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Quinones, who scored three runs and stole Six bases. while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Padilla, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Dominguez had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rising Phoenix with a sharp 20-1 victory. The match marked the Dons' most dominant win of the season so far.
Isaias Villanueva looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Davon Brimm was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Angel Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Dominguez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Dominguez's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Paramount, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Paramount has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dominguez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Paramount took their victory against Dominguez in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Does Paramount have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dominguez turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
