Baseball Recap: St. Agnes Comes Up Short

If St. Agnes was riding high fresh off their 9-1 takedown of St. Croix Prep on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Aggies fell just short of the New Life Academy Eagles by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The game marked the Aggies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Michael Gutzmann was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of James Steiner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

St. Agnes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for New Life Academy, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.

Coming up, St. Agnes will square off against Liberty Classical Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New Life Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spectrum at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
