Basketball Recap: Seguin Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fox Tech last Friday, Seguin came back down to earth. The Seguin Matadors took a 30-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lanier Voks on Tuesday. The Matadors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Voks earlier this season, when they won 47-21.

Despite the loss, Seguin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rebeka Wilke posted six points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Gil, who had no points along with seven boards and three steals.

Seguin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season. As for Lanier, they moved to 3-26 with that victory, which also ended their 17-game losing streak.

Seguin has already played their next game, a 67-20 win against Jefferson on the 24th. Lanier has also already played their next contest (against Edison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
