Softball Recap: Lewis County Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lewis County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Mason County Royals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-7 back in April.

Jerra Lucas spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiya Noble was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten matches. Another player making a difference was Myla Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 14-18. As for Mason County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Lewis County will face off against Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mason County, they will challenge Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
