Basketball Recap: Orange Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Orange waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Hawken Hawks with points to spare, taking the game 50-36. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Hawken's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cami Courtad, who posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Courtad has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Liu, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Orange's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for Hawken, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Orange and Hawken could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Orange (ranked 644th) will meet Perry (ranked 294th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Hawken (ranked 738th) will meet Richmond Heights (ranked 189th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
