Softball Game Preview: Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers vs. Edmonson County Wildcats

The Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Edmonson County Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Breckinridge County proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Monroe County 11-10.

Meanwhile, Edmonson County hadn't done well against Todd County Central recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Rebels.

Emma Price and Jolee Vincent did most of the damage at the plate: Price went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Vincent went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Vincent has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Davis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Edmonson County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Breckinridge County, their record now sits at 5-9.

Breckinridge County suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Edmonson County in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Fighting Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
