Baseball Recap: Warwick Drops Season-High Score on Minisink Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warwick). They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Minisink Valley Warriors on Friday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Cole Haskew made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Haskew was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Warwick let Tristan Sasse and Luca Siebert run wild. Sasse went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Siebert scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Sasse also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Garrison Sobo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Warwick lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Warwick and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Minisink Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warwick will venture away from home to take on Monroe-Woodbury at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Minisink Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Kingston at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
