Softball Game Preview: Dayton Pirates vs. Yamhill-Carlton Tigers

Dayton has won nine straight games at home, while Yamhill-Carlton has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Pirates will welcome the Tigers. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dayton 2.1, Yamhill-Carlton 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Dayton's victory against Banks wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Braves 3-2. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Yamhill-Carlton faced Vale in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 3-0 shutout. The Tigers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Yamhill-Carlton is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 26-4.

Dayton came out on top in a nail-biter against Yamhill-Carlton in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
