Football Recap: Newport Comes Up Short on the Road Against Philomath + How To Watch

Newport kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the Philomath Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cubs of the 40-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The victory got Philomath back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newport will venture away from home to square off against North Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Philomath, they will head out to challenge Stayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
