Football Recap: Cornelius Tims Leads South Fort Myers' Defense on Friday

If Cypress Lake wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Fort Myers, they should've done a better job of containing Arthur Gallishaw. The Wolfpack strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 22-7 for which the team can thank Gallishaw, who rushed for 197 yards while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 155 rushing yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to South Fort Myers' defense and their 20 sacks. Cornelius Tims led the group effort, picking up six of those sacks all by himself. Virshod Eleaby has become a key player for South Fort Myers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one sack, but 1-2 otherwise.

South Fort Myers is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Cypress Lake, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

South Fort Myers has already played their next matchup, a 24-21 win against Naples on the 10th. As for Cypress Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 51-7 victory against Island Coast on the 10th.
