Basketball Recap: Chelsea Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chelsea Academy can now relate to. They came up short against the Carlisle Chiefs on Friday, falling 67-46. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 61-55 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Despite the loss, Chelsea Academy still got an impressive performance from Cici Wingate, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 21 points. Wingate's big performance that afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Wingate, who posted three points and nine rebounds.

Carlisle can attribute much of their success to Chelsey Harris, who put up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in points. Zarah Gray was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Chelsea Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Carlisle, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Chelsea Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carlisle, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-46 defeat against St. Margaret's on the 1st.
