The Rogers Vikings will take on the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rogers hadn't beaten North Smithfield on the road since May 22, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Northmen. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ben Borgueta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rogers is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Borgueta was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Rogers got a massive performance out of Cole Marley, who went 4-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Marley a new career-high. Colby Schreiber was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Rogers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Exeter-West Greenwich got themselves on the board against Davies Career & Tech on Thursday, but Davies Career & Tech never followed suit. They blew past the Patriots 16-0. The victory continues a trend for the Scarlet Knights in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Conner Monteiro was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Mediros, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.
Exeter-West Greenwich now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rogers, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.
Rogers beat Exeter-West Greenwich 12-7 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Scarlet Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
