Football Recap: Cody Mccoard and Estiban Desantiago Pace Golden Sierra Defense + How To Watch

After soaring to 36 points the game before, Golden Sierra was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a 19-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bear River Bruins. Despite 176 more yards than the Bruins, the Grizzlies couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Golden Sierra still got an impressive performance from Cody McCoard, who rushed for 86 yards and one TD on only seven carries. McCoard was even better on defense, picking up four sacks and making five total tackles.

Even if they lost, Golden Sierra's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by McCoard and Estiban DeSantiago, who racked up six sacks between them.

Among those leading the charge was Jayden Brock, who rushed for 96 yards on only ten carries.

Having lost for the first time this season, Golden Sierra fell to 2-1. As for Bear River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Golden Sierra and Bear River will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Grizzlies will face off against rival Lindhurst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bear River is set to square off against their familiar foe Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
