Softball Recap: Wilson Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wilson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Akron Tigers as they made off with a 19-3 victory. The Lakemen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Katie Hardy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Madan, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rowan Simpson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

Wilson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.

Wilson's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Akron, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wilson is set to face off against their familiar foe Albion at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Akron will challenge rival Royalton-Hartland at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
