Draughn and Madison are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Draughn turned things around against East Burke on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Madison came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mountaineers a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Carrie Gunter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Addie Sams, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Paige Peek was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Madison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Madison pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Draughn, their record is now 12-7.
