Basketball Recap: Woodville-Tompkins Takes a Loss

Woodville-Tompkins lost against Swainsboro back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines fell 51-42 to the Swainsboro Tigers. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Woodville-Tompkins lost, don't look at Cassidy Freeman. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-9 en route to 15 points. Freeman is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games she's played. Destiny Edwards was another key player, putting up six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Woodville-Tompkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Swainsboro was led to victory by A'Acaylah Murphy and Quin'Tasia Boynton. Murphy dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while Boynton dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Those 11 points gave Boynton a new career-high.

Woodville-Tompkins' defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Swainsboro, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.

Woodville-Tompkins has already played their next contest, a 65-34 loss against St. Vincent's on the 11th. As for Swainsboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-35 win against Toombs County on the 11th.
