Basketball Recap: Spring Valley's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Spring Valley entered their matchup against Dutch Fork on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Spring Valley Vikings took a 54-36 bruising from the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-47 last Tuesday.

Dutch Fork's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justus Bell, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points. Bryson Taylor was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Spring Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5. As for Dutch Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Spring Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sumter at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Dutch Fork, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-48 win against Newberry on the 21st.
