Basketball Recap: Vail Mountain's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Vail Mountain can now relate to. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 53-35 to the Simla Cubs. While losing is never fun, the Gore Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Cubs are ranked 16th).

Despite the loss, Vail Mountain still got an impressive performance from Hunter Iverson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Iverson has posted since back in February of 2024. Charlie Vidal was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Simla found their leader in sophomore Tatum Kocerha, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was TJ Eurich, who had eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

The loss snapped Vail Mountain's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-7 record. As for Simla, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-2.

Vail Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Simla, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-46 win against Sanford on the 13th.
