Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. Fulton Falcons

Seymour is 0-5 against Fulton since December of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. Seymour will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

While Seymour didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down South-Doyle 48-32 on Friday. The 48-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Seymour's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hayes Golden, who went 5-for-12 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, and Abraham Hess, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 10 points and six boards. What's more, Golden posted four steals, the most he's had since back in January.

Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fulton beat West 65-60 on Saturday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Rebels are ranked 260th).

Seymour's record is now 7-0. As for Fulton, their record now sits at 5-2.

Seymour took a serious blow against Fulton in their previous meeting back in January, falling 66-30. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 36-10.
