Baseball Recap: Crystal River's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Crystal River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Lecanto Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Panthers last Tuesday, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Maverick Filor looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landon King was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Fabion Pabon was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Crystal River's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Lecanto, their record is now 4-9.

Coming up, Crystal River will be playing at home against Dunnellon at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lecanto, they will take on Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mitchell's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Lecanto's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
