Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Fossil Ridge's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

If Loveland wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Fossil Ridge, they should've done a better job of containing Drake Walker. The Fossil Ridge SaberCats came out on top against the Loveland Red Wolves by a score of 66-55 on Friday thanks in part to Walker, who went 6 for 9 en route to 22 points. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high.

Loveland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jackson Gebhardt, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Zayne Desouza, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Loveland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5.

Fossil Ridge and Loveland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Fossil Ridge (ranked 32nd) will meet Fort Collins (ranked 201st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Loveland will square off against Poudre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 121 places (49 vs. 170).
