Daniela Figueroa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Figueroa wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Loera, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kailyn Martinez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Ocean View Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Bayfront Charter, their record is now 3-15.
Ocean View Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bayfront Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ocean View Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Ocean View Christian might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Bayfront Charter in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
