Willowbrook came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Proviso East Pirates a 13-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Julian Ayala looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Jake Bonino and Tommy Whiting did most of the damage at the plate: Bonino went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Whiting went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Whiting a new career-high. Noah Martinez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Willowbrook's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Proviso East, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willowbrook will face off against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Proviso East, they will challenge Proviso West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
