Volleyball Recap: Wallace Comes Up Short

After flying high against St. Maries on Tuesday, Wallace came back down to earth. The Miners came up short against the Kellogg Wildcats on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Miners have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Wallace took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-9, 25-12.

Their offense was headlined by Kylee Phillips and Megan Hull, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Aubrey Birdsell and her six assists. Finally, Khepri Wood kept Wallace's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Leading Kellogg to victory were Jordyn Stutzke and Bella Schillereff. Stutzke had 14 digs and two assists, while Schillereff had six digs.

Wallace's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Kellogg, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Wallace and Kellogg will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Miners will square off against rival Clark Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kellogg is set to challenge their familiar foe Orofino at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
