The Brookville Raiders will face off against the DuBois Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brookville has given up an average of 36.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Brookville is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Port Allegany on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Raiders came up short against the Gators, falling 48-28. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Gators are ranked 97th).
Brookville might have lost, but man, Sam Krug was a machine: he rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, DuBois strolled past Connellsville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-24.
Brookville better keep an eye on Trey Wingard. He was instrumental in DuBois' win, throwing for 358 yards and four TDs while picking up 15.6 yards per attempt. Wingard's passing game has become a key predictor of the Beavers' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. London Duncan got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for DuBois, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Duncan, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
DuBois didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Samson Deeb.
DuBois has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Brookville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
