Softball Game Preview: Tecumseh Arrows vs. Jonathan Alder Pioneers

For the second straight game, Tecumseh will face off against Jonathan Alder. The Arrows will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Pioneers at 5:15 p.m. Tecumseh has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Tecumseh after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Jonathan Alder, falling 16-6.

For Jonathan Alder's part, Taryn Miller tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Myla Schilling was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Natalie Neumeier was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Jonathan Alder kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win (which was Jonathan Alder's third in a row) raised their record to 11-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Tecumseh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
