Baseball Recap: Laguna Acoma Takes a Loss

Laguna Acoma extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 12-11 in the process. They came up short against the Oak Grove Classical Academy Owls, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 on Thursday.

As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Oak Grove Classical Academy's part, Ben Fernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Fernandez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Oak Grove Classical Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Fernandez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brody Prochnow and Grayson Grebe did most of the damage at the plate: Prochnow went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Grebe got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Prochnow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Schroeder, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Laguna Acoma nor Oak Grove Classical Academy have any future games scheduled.
