Preview: Emery Spartans vs. Delta Rabbits
Emery has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Delta Rabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Delta took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Emery, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Emery beat Juab 52-39.
Emery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wade Stilson, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and six steals. Stilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zack Tuttle, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Delta's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their tough 77-51 defeat to Manti might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Delta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Manti is ranked 27th).
Emery pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Delta, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Emery took their victory against Delta in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 62-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Emery since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
