Baseball Recap: Frostproof Find Success

Frostproof took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Auburndale, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Frostproof Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Auburndale Bloodhounds on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ricky Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bradley Roberts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in runs. Luke Thornton was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Frostproof was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Frostproof's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Auburndale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. As for Auburndale, they will venture away from home to challenge George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
