Basketball Recap: Highlands Comes Up Short

Highlands was the 67-59 winner over Swain County when they last played one another on January 9th, but their luck changed this time around. The Highlands Highlanders fell 59-50 to the Swain County Maroon Devils on Monday.

Highlands has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Swain County, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highlands won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Blue Ridge Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highlands is facing Blue Ridge Early College at the right time seeing as Blue Ridge Early College is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Swain County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Hayesville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayesville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Swain County likes a good challenge.
