Preview: Quincy Orioles vs. Athens Indians
The Quincy Orioles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Athens Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Quincy ended up a good deal behind Concord and lost 47-30. While losing is never fun, Quincy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Concord is ranked 223rd).
Meanwhile, Athens lost to Concord on the road by a decisive 49-33 margin on Friday.
Quincy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Quincy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Athens when the teams last played back in February of 2017, but they still walked away with a 41-35 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Athens' Noelle Fuller, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Quincy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
