Softball Game Preview: Padua Academy vs. Cape Henlopen

Padua Academy hasn't had much luck against Cape Henlopen recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Padua Academy will welcome Cape Henlopen at 7:00 p.m.

Padua Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Sussex Tech, who was ranked third at the time (Padua Academy was ranked 14th). Padua Academy took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sussex Tech on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, Padua Academy's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cape Henlopen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Milford 9-7. Cape Henlopen hasn't had any issues with Milford recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cape Henlopen got a great performance from Sara Craig as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Craig posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Alivia Longo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jordynn Bowe, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Cape Henlopen's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Padua Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
