Preview: Pasco Pirates vs. Land O' Lakes Gators
The Pasco Pirates will be playing at home against the Land O' Lakes Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Pasco got themselves on the board against Wesley Chapel, but Wesley Chapel never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 53-0 at home. Pasco pushed the score to 47-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Wesley Chapel had no chance of recovering from.
Pasco can attribute much of their success to Demontia Hudson, who gained 143 total yards and two touchdowns, and Alvaunte Brown, who threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Amontiy Hudson, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Land O' Lakes fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They had just enough and edged Wiregrass Ranch out 37-35.
Land O' Lakes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Horvath out in front who threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per attempt. Xavier Clemente was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pasco's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Land O' Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Pasco was taken down by Land O' Lakes 36-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Thankfully for Pasco, Kenen Ayala (who picked up 139 receiving yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
