Softball Game Recap: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Ayala Bulldogs

Claremont had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-10 to make it seven. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-0 to the Ayala Bulldogs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 last Tuesday.

As for Ayala, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For Ayala's part, the team relied heavily on McKenzie Becerra, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those five RBI gave Becerra a new career-high. Marisa Dominguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Claremont is set to square off against their familiar foe Walnut at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ayala will face off against rival Glendora at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 1.9, the Tartans 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
