Softball Game Preview: Teays Valley Vikings vs. Westerville North Warriors

The Teays Valley Vikings will challenge the Westerville North Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Teays Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Westerville North's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Teays Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Franklin Heights get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Westerville North came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Logan on Wednesday.

Mallory McLean tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Emma Polovick was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Ella Effron was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Teays Valley pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Westerville North, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
