Soccer Game Preview: Xavier College Prep vs. Salpointe Catholic

The Xavier College Prep Gators will take on the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Xavier College Prep is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Xavier College Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Desert Vista, who was ranked 11th at the time (Xavier College Prep was ranked fourth). Xavier College Prep walked away with a 3-1 victory over Desert Vista on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic kept a clean sheet against Poston Butte on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Broncos as they made off with a 4-0 win. Considering the Lancers have won three matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Xavier College Prep's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-1-1 record this season.

Everything went Xavier College Prep's way against Salpointe Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2014, as Xavier College Prep made off with a 3-0 win.
