Softball Game Preview: San Simon Longhorns vs. Fort Thomas Apaches

The San Simon Longhorns will head out to face off against the Fort Thomas Apaches at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Simon came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 30-20 to Baboquivari.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fort Thomas, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Baboquivari by a score of 12-8 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Apaches as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Raeleigh Hawkins made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Hawkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fort Thomas got a big performance out of Kaylee Benally, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Treyiah Declay, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Fort Thomas' record is now 6-12. As for San Simon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

San Simon might still be hurting after the 20-11 loss they got from Fort Thomas when the teams last played back in March. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
