Francis Parker and Escondido Charter are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Francis Parker's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Francis Parker came up short against Santa Fe Christian on Tuesday, falling 19-2.
Francis Parker saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Antczak, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Antczak has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Escondido Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop's on Tuesday, taking the game 7-3. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Lilly Harper was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Zaliyah Jones was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Rose Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Escondido Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop's only posted a batting average of .281.
Escondido Charter's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Francis Parker, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
