Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Fenwick Crusaders vs. Saugus Sachems

The Bishop Fenwick Crusaders will head out to challenge the Saugus Sachems at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games Bishop Fenwick has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Bishop Fenwick had taken Archbishop Williams down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Bishops by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Crusaders have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Saugus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Marblehead, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Saugus saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Soroko, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Another was Connor Bloom, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bishop Fenwick's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Saugus, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Bishop Fenwick came out on top in a nail-biter against Saugus in their previous matchup back in June of 2019, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
