Soccer Game Preview: Joliet Catholic vs. Lockport

The Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers will face off against the Lockport Porters at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Joliet Catholic's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Joliet Catholic's offense. They lost 5-0 to Nazareth Academy on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Lockport faced Lincoln-Way East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Porters won by a goal and slipped past the Griffins 2-1. That's two games straight that Lockport have won by just one goal.

Hayden Spodorek and Raven Rogers scored both of Lockport's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Joliet Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lockport, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Joliet Catholic suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Lockport in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
